As with introducing any other allergens, make sure your baby is well, they don’t have a runny nose or anything & are in good form. Make sure all other foods are eaten that day they have had numerous times before- so if there is any reaction & you will know it is caused by the egg.

How to offer:

Boil an egg for 6-7 minutes so it is very well cooked. Mashup a small amount with a previously tolerated food such as pureed vegetable, expressed breast milk, formula, full-fat cows milk or natural yoghurt & feed from the spoon. I like natural yoghurt because of the texture it gives but you do what suits you.

What to look out for?

Watch out for any sort of distress/ breathing changes/ rashes/ gut symptoms. Try to avoid going anywhere for about 2-3 hours afterwards, in case there is a delayed reaction.

If there is no reaction, give the egg again in a few days & include it as part of their diet.

Eggs make feeding kids easier which makes life easier so that’s always good.
